This book summarises the experience gained over 8 years of teaching the University Diploma in Biological retrovirology in Dakar.

Biology applied to the HIV and its comorbidities in Africa is drawn directly from the experience gained through teaching the University Diploma in Dakar, set out in an extremely educational form.

It can be used as a pocket reference guide to current advances in the understanding and treatment of the disease but also contains several new and original sets of multiple choice questions designed to build the reader's analytical knowledge together with a number of clinical and biological cases which help the reader build a synthetic approach to the disease combining all the diverse knowledge presented.

The book offers practical and pragmatic technical solutions to issues encountered during the biological monitoring of HIV and its comorbidities and also raises unresolved questions – regrettably still so numerous – which are the subject of debate in the scientific and medical community.

Published under the supervision of Souleymane Mboup, Guy-Michel Gershy-Damet, Coumba Touré Kane and Laurent Bélec, the book draws together an outstanding group of authors, all specialists in their field.
