Symposium organised by the National Educational Association for Teaching Therapeutics (APNET) and the French Urology Association (AFU) – March 2000
Erectile malfunction is an aspect of practical medicine affecting patients suffering from various organic diseases as well as those with psychological disturbances of which depression is a feature.
Sexual problems are of interest to a large number of doctors in a very wide range of fields: general practitioners, urologists, sexologists, hospital doctors, geriatricians, psychiatrists, cardiologists, endocrinologists, and so on.
In the news because of new forms of treatment that have been put on the market amid a storm of publicity, these problems also raise the issue of the limits to medical intervention and highlight a broad social question: what constitutes normal sexuality?
Specialists working in different disciplines, brought together here by Professors Jardin and Queneau, give a precise overview of the diagnosis and treatment of sexual problems, as well as the limitations of therapy.
