Progress has been made in recent years regarding not only the evaluation of medical drugs and their benefits but also the treatment strategies that are or should be chosen.
How the impact of drugs is measured depends on a number of parameters (epidemiology, how the health system is organised, and so on).
In general, their benefits are assessed for the population as a whole, starting with the largest group and finishing, if possible, with individual patients.
