It is intended for all those who wish to better understand this vast medical field, which has benefited for ten years from major scientific advances and progress in therapy, to which the French experts participating in the writing have very extensively contributed.
The educational objectives that guided the writers have the aim of improving daily practice by providing a simple but rigorous framework allowing evaluation, choice, and implementation of appropriate strategies.
Each chapter responds to one or more fundamental questions in daily practice, outside the walls of hospital centers or the context of specialized consultations: definition, epidemiology, screening, diagnosis, evaluation, treatments, patient follow-up.
The end of the work offers clinical cases inspired by real situations, which provide a concrete example of a painful neuropathic disease among the most frequently encountered, and offers the reader an opportunity for reflection in the form of questions/responses with regard to evaluation, choice of various therapeutic possibilities, follow-up, and communication between the various persons involved in management.
