Breast cancer

This is the second volume of a series devoted to breast cancer.
It sets out to give as topical an overview as possible of the kinds of therapy in use today for breast cancer in the early stages.
The first part details the indications, methods and limitations of the latest forms of surgery: mammary conservation and PAMectomy, less invasive exploratory methods and sentinel ganglion techniques, aspiration of the axillary ducts.
The second part deals with medical treatment, examining the results obtained with hormone therapy and chemotherapy, therapeutic prospects with monoclonal antibodies and the new hormone therapies.
The final part is reserved for radiotherapy, which has a fundamental role in the treatment of breast cancer in the early stages. Indications and current and future techniques are all covered.
